   První křížová cesta byla na Petříně vystavěna roku 1735 spolu s kaplí Kalvárie. Právě tady se sloužila vůbec první pobožnost křížové cesty na našem území. Roku 1836 byla stará křížová cesta rozšířena na současných 14 zastavení. Autorem přestavby je Josef Kranner a malby jednotlivých zastavení namaloval Josef Führich. V 90. letech 19. století byly malby obnoveny. Na pátém zastavení Šimon Cyrenský pomáhá Ježíši kříž nést. Donátorem kaple byl kníže Ferdinand z Lobkowicz. The first Stations of the Cross were built on Petřín hill in 1735 together with the Calvary Chapel. It was here that the very first devotion of the Stations of the Cross was celebrated in Bohemia. In 1836 the old Stations of the Cross were extended to the current 14 stops. The author of the reconstruction is Josef Kranner and the paintings of the individual stops were painted by Josef Führich. The paintings were restored in the 1890s. At the fifth stop Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry the cross. The donor of the chapel was Prince Ferdinand of Lobkowicz.
